Players to watch: QB Will Musselman, WR David Zale, RB/WR Foster Donnell, WR Sam Chortek, RB Will Hoffman, OLB Phillip Hiner-Leamon, OL Alex Stern, TE Nick Barber, CB Steve Rogers, CB Bradley Girson, LB Sean Kirkpatrick, LB Michael Paraskevas
Outlook: The return of offensive starters have the Hornets hoping for an improved record in 2008. Musselman (5-10, 185, 4.7) passed for 1,863 yards and 10 TDs last season. Favorite target Zale (6-2, 185, 4.8) returns having caught 48 balls for five TDs in 2007. The Hornets’ rushing attack will include Donnell (5-9, 170, 4.5) who scored five TDs last season.

St. Mark’s Lions
Coach: Bart Epperson
2007 Record: 9-1, SPC DI champs
Returning Letterman: 18
Returning Starters: 6 Off./7 Def.
Players to watch: QB Kirk Hayes, WR Ty Montgomery, WR Terdema Ussery, CB Whit Shaw, LB Stephen Friedberg, WR Tyler Mow-Unlaud
Outlook: A pride of returning starters makes the Lions favorites to repeat last year’s state title accomplishments. Hayes (6-2, 180, 4.8) lit up defenses for 2,418 yards and 34 TDs in 2007. Also returning are top receivers Montgomery (6-1, 190, 4.7) who scored 11 TDs, and Ussery (6-4, 197, 4.5) who scored 5 TDs, last season. Friedberg (6-1, 205, 4.8) and Shaw (5-10, 165, 4.6) will anchor the defense.

Division II
Episcopal School of Dallas Eagles
Coach: James Burk
2007 Record: 10-1, SPC DII state champs
Returning Lettermen: 15
Returning Starters: 2 Off./5 Def.
Players to watch: RB/LB Cody Salaja, OL Robert Luce, WR John Stephen Khoury, LB Will Bass, DB Will Bost, DL Hal Hundley, WR Reece Dinkins
Outlook: The defending Division II state champs return Salaja (6-0, 195, 4.6), who scored three TDs as a running back and led the team in tackles as a linebacker. Luce (6-2, 275, 5.5) earned all-state honors as a sophomore.

Cistercian Hawks
Coach: Steve McCarthy
2007 Record: 4-6
Returning Lettermen: 21
Returning Starters: 6 Off./6 Def.
Players to watch: QB Connor Haley, RB Will Garnett, DE Giancarlo Carleo, LB Mitch Miller, SS Max Tenney, K Joe Grapham, LB Aaron Olson, OL Addison White, OL Michael Lawson, OL Walter Herring, WR Holden Godat, OL Ian White, WR Drew Albert, K Paul Pesek, OL Tyler Freeman, RB Steven Imaizumi, FS David Baillargeon, DE Chris Martinez, DB Austin Branch, DB Adam Sherburne
Outlook: Haley (6-0, 185, 4.5) and Garnett (6-0, 190, 4.6) should find plenty of running room behind an experienced offensive line that returns all five starters in Addison White, Ian White, Lawson, Herring and Freeman.
