Watkins 6-1, 180, 4.7) and Anthony (5-10, 175, 4.6) will be his main receivers. Evans (6-0, 190, 4.9) will return after receiving All-State honors.

Outlook: The Friars could field one of TAPPS’ best defenses in 2008. Chidozie (6-2, 190, 4.4) has already committed to Texas Tech and Stevens (6-1, 210, 4.4) is also a D-I recruit. Dodson (6-1, 185) returns at quarterback having passed for almost 900 yards and five TDs in 2007. Smith (662 yards, seven TDs) also returns in the backfield where he may be joined by Sutherland, a sophomore.

Outlook: The Chargers offense should not miss a step from last year’s state finalist team. Baker (1,095 rushing yards, 18 TDs) and Brooks (2,214 passing yards, 20 TDs) return, as does all-district lineman Adcock (6-3, 355, 4.9). Rudd (6-0, 200, 4.5) recorded six sacks and 2 INTs and 2007 District I Defensive MVP Withrow (5-10, 170, 4.5) added another 7 INTs.
First Baptist Saints

Outlook: The Saints’ quest for another playoff run will center on Frazier (5-10, 180, 4.5) who passed for 2,800 yards and 30 TDs, while running for 850 yards and 11 TDs. All-State QB Frazier lost two all-district receivers but Bryce Frazier (6-0, 230) returns as a prime target, along with the speedy McGruder (5-8, 170, 4.4). Caffey (5-11, 210 4.8), Childers (5-10, 170, 4.7) and Harper (5-8, 185, 4.9) will attempt to get the ball back into Frazier’s hands.
Parish Episcopal Panthers

Players to watch: RB Trey Morse, QB Brant Costilla, DB/RB Andre Brackens, LB Ryan Simons, OT Hayden Moujalled, DT Eric Humphrey, C Luis Rios, TE John Mark Johnson, RB Brandon January
Outlook: The Panthers return 10 offensive starters including Costilla (6-4, 205, 4.7) and Morse (5-7, 190, 4.6). Morse was an All-State selection, rushing for 1,746 and 24 TDs in 2007, while Costilla passed for more than 1,400 yards and 12 TDs. All-State RB Brackens was the district’s newcomer of last year. Moujalled (6-2, 290) is the big man on the offensive line. Simons (5-8, 190, 4.6) returns having earned all-district honors as a junior.
Trinity Christian Academy – Cedar Hill Tigers

Outlook: The Tigers return key offensive players in Rambo, King and Williamson. Rambo (5-10, 170, 4.5) rushed for 1,240 yards and 22 TDs while being named first-team all-district in 2007. King passed for 1,280 yards and 14 TDs, four of which were caught by Williamson.

Outlook: Graduation hit the Stars hard following the 2007 season. Gone are District Player of the Year Kyle Hendricks at quarterback and Defensive Player of the Year Cameron Fowler on the defensive line. Hendricks heir apparent may come from among Josh Atkinson, Patrick Gonzales and Jerome Starks. Giesey hopes Gregory (5-9, 170, 4.4) can help fill the void left by receiver Demetrius Tryels.
Carrollton Christian Academy Saints
Coach: Bryan Crews
2007 Record: 5-6, DIII bi-district qualifier

Players to watch: RB Zak Kaiser, OL/DL Stephen Land, LB/RB Bobby Taylor, QB/DB Josh Hall, LB/OL Adam Davis, DL/OL John Revell
Outlook: The Saints are eyeing another playoff berth returning four first-team all-district players in Kaiser, Land, Taylor and Hall. Kaiser (6-0, 180, 4.7) rushed for 885 yards and 4 TDs in 2007. Land (5-7, 230) and Taylor (5-10, 170, 4.7) combined for 8.5 sacks last season.
Prince of Peace Eagles
Coach: Doug Pevehouse

Players to watch: WR Joey Daly, WR Bobby Leiker, WR Ricky Hofstra, QB Sam Scherer, DE Caleb Weiss, OL Chase Avants, TE/DE Travis Mattes, WR Connor Ryan, C Will Jones
Outlook: The Eagles hope that several key returners on both sides of the ball will bolster their 2008 record. Prince of Peace is deep at receiver with Hofstra (5-11, 160, 4.9), Leiker (5-10, 165) Daly and Ryan. Avants (6-1, 250) and Jones anchor the offensive line. Weiss (6-0, 200, 4.9) and Mattes (5-11, 185, 4.9) will provide pressure on defense.

District 2
Garland Christian Swordsmen

Players to watch: QB Aaron Peterson, OL Joel Ramirez
Outlook: The Swordsmen will miss defensive graduates Charlie Ashley and Josh Eppler. Peterson (6-1, 215, 4.8) returns at QB after seeing limited action in 2007. Ramirez anchors the offensive line.
Shelton Chargers

Outlook: Olsen (5-9, 170, 4.7) returns among the Chargers’ eight offensive starters. He passed for more than 600 yards and four TDs in 2007. Jackson hopes to turn into Shelton’s main rushing threat behind Bussell (6-2, 240). Maxwell and Mitchell return to anchor the defense.

Canyon Creek Christian Academy Cougars

Outlook: The Cougars are geared to run behind Miller (6-0, 195, 4.7) and Moorehead (5-8, 175, 4.6). Miller rushed for 1,760 yards and 22 TDs in 2007. Moorehead added more than 900 yards and 11 TDs. Tufford returns after passing for seven TDs last season. Crane (6-6, 292) gives the Cougars good size on the offensive line.
The Highlands Trail Blazers

Players to watch: DE James Meier, QB Jacob Schaad, CB Josh Treadway, CB Josh De La Torre, RB Robert Johnston
Outlook: Schaad takes over for outgoing All-District QB Noah Eshleman. Treadway (5-7, 145) and De La Torre hope to fill the secondary void left by Michael Behl.
Rockwall Christian Warriors

Players to watch: QB Clayton Jones, WR Jordan Ogle, DL/OL Roland Hickman, LB Cody Wallace
Experienced players at key positions have the Warriors eyeing another playoff appearance. Jones passed for more than 1,100 yards and 13 TDs last season. All-state receiver Ogle will return as his favorite target. All-Staters Hickman and Wallace will lead the defense.

Outlook: The Knights return a strong class of juniors including Miller (5-10, 195, 4.9), Martin (5-11, 205) and Maxwell (5-11, 215). Helton is hoping Hendricks (5-10, 160, 4.8) can jumpstart the running game. Sharpless and Robinson will help out on defense.
Lakehill Warriors

Players to watch: QB Morgan Lineberry, WR Zak Zwerner, TE Brennen Cowart, WR Harrison Boyd, WR Mac Kelly
Outlook: Eleven returning lettermen should give the Warriors a boost in 2008. Lineberry (6-0, 175, 4.7) will enjoy an experienced receiving corps in Cowart, Zwerner, Boyd and Kelly.
Rockwall Heritage Christian Eagles

Returning Lettermen: 8
Returning Starters: 3 Off./ 4 Def.
Players to watch: QB Zach Read, RB Josh Points, RB Kevin Prater, DB Josh Peschell, C Spencer McAfee, DB Noah Wards
Outlook: The Eagles hope experienced offensive starters can lift them back to another state championship. Read (5-10, 155), a second-team all-stater, returns to lead the offense, having thrown 24 TDs last season. Prater (6-1, 180) and Points (5-8, 155) will help carry the load. Peschell (6-0, 170) will be a key defender.
Tyler St. Christian Crusaders

Players to watch: RB/DB Josh Hunt, QB Josh Pegram, WR Trevor Martinez, WR Alex Andrews, C Raymond Macias, S Chris Holland
Outlook: The Crusaders will enjoy the talents of Hunt (6-2, 205, 4.6), who raised eyes as a freshman. Pegram will enjoy targets like Andrews and Martinez.

Duncanville Christway Chaparrals

Players to watch: QB Brian Linn, RB Kolby Burns, RB Chris Polk, NG Josh Nabors, DB Aaron Whitaker
Outlook: The Chaparrals expect to build on last season’s playoff run. Linn, Burns, Polk and Nabors all return after earning postseason honors. Polk produced 1,400 yards and 27 TDs in 2007. Polk added another 15 TDs.
