Big Ike Prospects Making Decisions

Big Ike has been producing talented classes for nearly a decade. This season is no different.

Houston’s Eisenhower High School has a headliner every season. This year, defensive lineman Jay Guy is the Big Man on Campus who is verbally committed to Cal. While Guy committed to the Bears early in the spring, he is beginning to open back up the process.

He visited UCLA a few weeks ago and will be officially tripping to Nebraska in early November.

“My mom really liked UCLA and it was really nice,” Guy said. “The stadium, the coaches and the overall program was great. Their program is really up and coming.”

Nebraska is up next for Guy, who was a Houston TD Club Preseason Defensive Player of the Year nominee.

“I really like Coach Bo Pelini because he’s really focuses on the defensive line play,” he said. “He put out a lot of defensive linemen into the pros at LSU.”

Guy is also contemplating a visit to Minnesota, where teammate Allen Veazie has verbally committed. Veazie seems to be solid to Minnesota, but Ole Miss is entering the picture.

Iowa State received a verbal commitment from Ike linebacker Cqulin Hubert, a 6-foot-3, 230-pound linebacker.

“I’ve been up to Iowa State and the coaching staff and players made me feel at home,” Hubert said. “I really like the Big 12 and look forward to playing against some of the best college players in years to come.”

Hubert was also offered by Tulsa, Louisiana-Monroe, Lamar, Utah State and Arizona this recruiting season.

Defensive ends Justin Hamilton and Delvin Becks have sparked college interest for their 2009 play. Hamilton is hearing from SMU, while several Division I-AA schools are pursuing Becks.

Big Ike just continues to roll.
