Shooting for Perfection - Crystal Reeves - Broken Arrow

Thursday, May 1, 2008

Crystal Reeves has developed into one of the best golfers to ever come through Broken Arrow High School. Reeves, who has signed to play at Texas A&M, currently has a 71.75 stroke average. She is a four-year starter, four-year state qualifier and the No. 1 player at Broken Arrow. Reeves, who also owns the school record with a low-round score of 67 as a junior, has won three tournaments in 2008. She took top honors at the Sand Springs Tournament after shooting a 69, and shot a 68 at the Jenks Invitational. She finished in first place for the fourth straight time at the tournament in Muskogee with a score of 73. "I'm still getting warmed up for the season," Reeves said. "I know this going to be a good year. I'm really motivated to go play college golf and for the state tournament coming up." "My biggest strength right now is my mental game," Reeves said. "Right now I'm just really working on my consistency and minimizing my errors. I've really been working on my short game a lot because that's where it's won." Reeves, who serves as the President for BAHS Students for Christ Club, is in the top 10 percent academically at the largest high school in the state. She also considered attending the University of Tulsa before deciding on Texas A&M. "I'm very excited about going to Texas A&M," she said. "It's just the perfect place and perfect school for me."
