Mounds View cruises into state tourney

Mounds View had little trouble in cruising to its eighth-consecutive section title, blanking Totino-Grace, 7-0, to earn the 5AA championship. Mustangs netters did not lose a single set in any of the four singles or three doubles matches in the victory at Irondale High School in New Brighton.
It was the 16th victory of the season for the No. 3-ranked Mustangs, against just three defeats. Mounds View entered sectionals off a loss to Hopkins, but blanked Osseo and thumped Centennial in 5AA team paly before throttling the Eagles.
Mounds View's only other two losses on the season were to defending State champion Edina, who also downed the Mustangs for the Class AA title last June.
