Pitchers Danielle Schmidt and Amanda Pastrik teamed up to no-hit PACT Charter in
a 13-0 win for the defending Class A State champion New Life Academy softball team in the Section 4A
playoff opener on Thursday in Woodbury.
Schmidt, walked one and struck out eight of the 10 batters she faced in three innings of work before Pastrik K'ed three of six batters she worked against in her two innings before the game was called on mercy rule after the fifth. Schmidt also tallied four runs batted in on a 2-for-3 day at the
plate, while Jesse Simonson drove in two RBI. Jenny Ramey, Katie Stodolka and Rachel St. John each scored two runs apiece.
With the victory, the top-seeded Eagles advanced to play No. 9
Providence Academy on Saturday at the Mendakota Fields Complex in
Mendota Heights.
