This Saturday, two of the best Class 4A baseball teams in the state will collide during the 2009 Victory Field Classic in downtown Indianapolis. Fourth-ranked Carmel (3-0) will meet No. 7 Noblesville (7-2) in the nightcap of a scheduled triple-header to take place at the home of the Indianapolis Indians. The day event will begin at 2 p.m. as Class 3A No. 4 Brebeuf Jesuit (5-2) tangles with Class 3A Hamilton Heights (1-3), followed by Class 3A No. 9 New Palestine (4-1) facing Class 4A Fishers (4-4) at 5 p.m. Brebeuf, which won the the Sectional 26 title last season, is led by Marshall University recruit Stevie Gipson-Eberhart and Wright State University recruit Kevin Simms. Carmel finished runner-up in the Sectional 8 tournament last year to Westfield. The Greyhounds showcase a host of talented collegiate-bound players in Sam Yeary (DePauw University), Chris Tillery (Earlham College), Jesse Moralez (IU-Southeast), Kyle Lloyd (University of Evansville), Brooks Fiala (Miami of Ohio)and Alex Gordon (Wabash Valley). New Palestine finished the 2008 season with a 27-2 record and won a sectional title while also capturing the Hoosier Heritage Conference championship with a 13-1 record. Noblesville enters the 2009 season as the defending Hoosier Crossroads Conference champions. Coach Justin Keever's squad won their first sectional last year and concluded their run with a 20-7 overall record. The Millers carry two talented college recruits on their roster in Jake Roberts (University of Dayton) and Jake Wood (University of Texas-San Antonio).
