On Saturday afternoon, the Franklin Central boys basketball team continues down the state tournament path. After knocking off the heavily-favored Lawrence North Wildcats in the regional title game at Hinkle Fieldhouse, the Flashes make their next stop at Southport Fieldhouse to contend for the program's first semistate title. Their opponent? None other than the undefeated top-ranked Bloomington South Panthers. The Panthers are a flawless 24-0 on the season, and a large crowd is expected for Franklin Central's (21-5) match-up with Class 4A Bloomington South, following the Class 2A game between Brownstown Central (19-6) and Winchester (21-3) at 1 p.m. Those in attendance on Saturday are guaranteed to see some quality action on the floor, but only one lucky fan is assured to walkaway VYPE's grand-prize "Game of the Week" winner. This weekend, VYPE High School Sports Magazine will be on hand at Southport Fieldhouse, and will offer every fan a chance to enter our free raffle to win an autographed Carmello Anthony basketball, provided by ManCaveCollectibles.com. A winner will be drawn at halftime of the Franklin Central-Bloomington South game. So far this boys basketball postseason, VYPE has awarded two great prizes. At the Class 4A Arlington Sectional, Keenan Davis, a young hoops fan from the Lawrence Township area, won an autographed Reggie Miller basketball. A week later, Jerome Jormen, a Shortridge graduate, and Jerome Jormen Jr., a 10-year-old honor student at IPS School 44, were awarded an autographed Reggie Miller framed photo. Both prizes were provided by ManCaveCollectibles.com. Don't miss out on your chance to be VYPE's next winner at Southport Fieldhouse. VYPE will also have free magazines available and will hand out free t-shirts to the loudest and proudest high school basketball fans.
