Class of 2021 Starting To Emerge Some in the Class of 2012 haven't even been on a high school campus and likely won't even play varsity next fall, but several already are starting to make name for themselves in with strong showings and good times at recent combines. There have been combines at Coppell, Duncanville and Valley Ranch in recent weeks. On March 28, theoldcoach.com Ultimate Combine will hold an invitational testing event at Coppell for prospects of 2011 and 2012. Among top North Texas sophomores-to-be that have done well in recent combines are Southlake Carroll linebacker Will Davis, Red Oak cornerback Jeremy Brady, South Grand Prairie receiver Tomorris Hamilton, Arlington Bowie cornerback Robert Jenkins and Dallas Christian lineman Garrett Adcock. Duncanville guard Samuel Jenkins ( 6-0, 305) shows a lot of terrific lineman traits at an early age. He's got great hands and feet but needs to hit the weight room (as all freshmen do) to move some lower body weight to upper body. Southlake Carroll has another Cade Foster developing without the Foster's major college kicking talent. Davis (6-1, 190) is nothing short of a a workout wonder just as Foster was when he was a freshman in Southlake's traditional Dragon Maker off-season regimens. At one combine, Davis bench-pressed 185 pounds for 14 reps. He's got good speed. Even though Southlake returns most of his defense for 2009, Davis may have a shot in some roles even as a freshman, a real Southlake rarity. Lake Dallas QB Commits to Missouri Missouri liked how things turned out the last time the Tigers recruited a North Texas quarterback so they've got a 2010 commitment from another. Lake Dallas' James Franklin and Missouri can only hope to approach the heights that former Southlake Carroll quarterback Chase Daniel achieved the last three seasons. Franklin committed to Missouri while making a visit and watching a spring practice last Saturday. Missouri offensive line coach Bruce Walker recruits most of North Texas for the Tigers and he developed a strong relationship with Franklin. Lake Dallas lineman Daryl Williams was on the visit with Franklin but didn't commit. Williams (6-5, 270) says he's leaning toward TCU but has yet to commit with other offers from Baylor, Texas Tech and Kansas. Stanford Offers Skyline Linebacker Skyline linebacker Dominique Patterson is one of the state's top linebackers already with two Big Ten offers and Texas A&M offer. He's added one on the West Coast recently. "Stanford offered," Patterson said. "I know that Stanford is a great school and a school to get a great education," he said. "The football team is pretty good too. I'm interested in Stanford and I would like to take a visit but I haven't had a chance to really learn about the program." Stanford coach Jim Harbaugh is determined to tap into some Texas talent. But Patterson expects to hear from a lot of bright young coaches. First-year Tennessee coach Lane Kiffin is expected to be in Dallas during May evaluations and likely will stop by to check out Patterson and Skyline's other major college prospects. Lancaster Loaded Again Lancaster defensive backs Deon Criss, Quentin Hayes and Tyler Stephenson all are considered top college prospects. The highest rated is hard-hitting safety Hayes, who also is on the Tigers' 4 X 200 and 4 X 400 relays. A safety, Hayes has offers from Texas Tech, Kansas, Baylor, Colorado State and Tulsa. He's been invited to attend a Texas junior information day March 28 and Hayes would like to hear from Alabama.
