Midlothian quarterback Bryce Petty was left hanging the last two months after his commitment to Tennessee ended as new Vols coach Lane Kiffin didn't keep a scholarship open.... Petty committed to Baylor today after the Bears came in with an offer late Tuesday... Petty also had gotten a Virginia Tech offer Tuesday as well. Baylor has super freshman quarterback Robert Griffin returning for the foreseable future, but Petty is willing to pay work his way up to learn a very complicated passing offense run by Baylor coach Art Briles. Petty will not enroll at Baylor until the spring semester of 2010 and start his NCAA clock at that time. It's a practice becoming more common and known as grey-shirting. Petty would still be eligible for an NCAA red-shirt season which allows a player five years to compete in four seasons. "I committed right after dinner (Tuesday) 7:30 or 8," Petty said. "I called the coaches and they were excited for sure. There were too many positives to leave them on the table. They don't have as much tradition as some other schools, but they have potential for sure and have a really good recruiting class this year."
