NFL Commissioner Rewards Faith Christian Coach's Kindness

Dallas, TX

Friday, January 30, 2009

It seems that Grapevine Faith Christian football coach Kris Hogan's kind gesture to a district opponent has been rewarded with a Super Bowl trip. In November, Hogan led Faith's attempt to support Gainesville State's players -- who have been sentenced to time at the juvenile correction facility -- by asking half of his team's parents and boosters to create a spirit line and cheer for Gainesville State, a team normally has no fans. Hogan went so far as to pass out Gainesville State rosters so his parents could cheer them on by name, and provide postgame dinner and spirit bags. As a result, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and USA Football invited Hogan to Tampa to tell his story and to attend the game. "Our school's mission is to create Christian leaders," Hogan said. "This seemed like a great way for our players to make a Christian gesture to kids who needed it."
