As expected, there were many changes in Vype's boys Kansas Power Rankings in the aftermath of the mid-season tournaments last week. Week 2 shapes up this way: 1. Topeka Highland Park 2. Bishop Miege 3. McPherson 4. Wichita Heights 5. Wichita Southeast 6. Shawnee Mission Northwest 7. Topeka Hayden 8. Olathe East 9. Hesston 10. Wichita Collegiate They differ quite a bit from Week 1's rankings -- however, mostly the same cast of characters: 1. Topeka Highland Park 2. Shawnee Mission Northwest 3. Topeka Hayden 4. Wichita Heights 5. Bishop Miege 6. Wichita Southeast 7. Olathe East 8. McPherson 9. Wichita East 10. Bishop Carroll After losing by double digits in each of the first two rounds at the St. Thomas Aquinas tournament, Carroll drops out. Granted, the opening loss was to Bishop Miege, which crawls up near the top of the standings at No. 2. Miege has another Releford, Trevor, a junior, who's following his brother Travis' act. Class 5A Miege was upset at sub-state last year - shouldn't happen this year. Releford and his teammates gave 6A Shawnee Mission Northwest, the former No. 2, now No. 6, a whipping in the final of the Aquinas tourney. Carroll, meanwhile, is grinding. They couldn't find any flow against Goddard on Tuesday in a three-point loss. East High is also out after losing to Highland Park by 13 in the Topeka Invitational final. Hesston at No. 9 and Collegiate at No. 10 are the new entries, each maintaining its undefeated records after mid-season tournament championships. The top three teams in the rankings are out of Class 5A -- Highland Park, Bishop Miege and McPherson. Topeka Hayden drops four spots to No. 7 after a one-point win over Class 3A Sabetha in the Burlington tournament final. Heights' maintains its No. 4 ranking, despite a loss to Hutchinson at the McPherson tourney. City League play over the course of the next three weeks will dictate where Heights, Southeast and East end up in the Kansas Power Rankings: Heights at East, Feb. 3; Heights at Southeast, Feb. 10; Southeast at East, Feb. 17.
