Cedar Hill entered last night's district showdown against Duncanville ranked second in VYPE's area 5A poll, one spot behind the top-ranked Panthers. Cedar Hill's talented lineup proceeded to make VYPE's voters rethink their rankings through most of the game. Then Duncanville decided to try and restore its national reputation. Leading by 10 points with 1:30 left to play, Cedar Hill watched Duncanville score nine unanswered points -- and take two shots at game-winning baskets -- before holding on for a 68-67 win. Cedar Hill (20-2, 3-0) takes over the No. 1 position in VYPE's 5A area poll, but not without some stress. Trailing by one with 23 seconds left, Duncanville (15-7, 3-1) forced a Cedar Hill turnover and set up for a game-winning shot. Shawn Williams could not covert an attempt from 15 feet and Perry Jones missed on the putback as time ran out.
