Lake Highlands product kicks Ravens to AFC title game

Dallas, TX

Monday, January 12, 2009

Former Lake Highlands kicker Matt Stover added another pressure kick to his 18-year NFL career, and it could lead to his second Super Bowl ring. Stover's 43-yard field goal with 53 seconds remaining pushed the Baltimore Ravens to a 13-10 win over Tennessee in the divisional round of the playoffs. The Ravens will play the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC Championship Game this Sunday. Stover graduated from Lake Highlands in 1986 after earning All-district honors as a receiver and a kicker. While at Lake Highlands, Stover made news by kicking a 53-yard field goal. He has played for the Browns-turned-Ravens his entire career and helped the team win Super Bowl XXXV.
