David McNabb writes on recruiting and high school sports every Wednesday on VYPE.com: Who's Left for Class of 2009? National signing day is Feb. 4 for the Class of 2009 and the majority of prospects have made verbal commitments. Still there are plenty of players still taking visits and finalizing decisions. Rockwall-Heath running back Kendial Lawrence and Heath linebacker Ryan Mosby are among the highest-rated uncommitted North Texas players along with St. Mark's receiver Terdema Ussery. Wylie noseguard Nikita Whitlock is hoping to pick up offers after leading the Pirates to the Class 5A Division II state final. Wylie quarterback Jerod Monk is being recruited by TCU and Baylor as a TE and he visits Baylor this weekend. Lawrence raised his college stock considerably with a terrific senior year. Mosby is changing his commitment to Iowa State after coach Gene Chizik left for Auburn. Lawrence is undersized (5-9, 177) but rushed for 2,679 yards and 43 touchdowns. He injured his shoulder in the playoffs and missed Heath's final playoff game, but because the injury doesn't hamper Lawrence's top attributes of speed and elusiveness, he's still gaining recruiting attention. He's officially visited Iowa State, Louisville and Missouri. He is still considering taking his final two visits, but is unsure of whether or not he will. Missouri may have the lead but Arizona is pushing hard to get a visit. Mosby (6-1, 205) is being hotly pursued by Kentucky, Clemson, Mississippi and Georgia Tech. "I'm completely open right now," Mosby said. "I signed to play with Coach Chizik and Coach Bolt but they're all gone now. "Kentucky came to my house this morning and set up an official visit with them for January 12. They had told me that I had a real good chance of coming in and playing for them." St. Mark's Ussery (6-4, 200) is a strong lean toward Colorado but hasn't committed. Ussery might on his Jan. 16 official visit to Boulder. He's got other offers California, Purdue, Stanford, Virginia, Wake Forest and Kansas. DB Foster Commits to Vandy It's the SEC over Big Ten for Colleyville-Heritage defensive back Eddie Foster. The speedy 5-10, 165-pounder committed to Vanderbilt over Northwestern this week. "I connected a lot more with Vanderbilt's coaches on campus," Foster said. "There's something inside of me that tells me that this is the place where I need to be." Dallas Christian OL Likes Aggies Texas A&M sells itself to all prospective students as being unique. The Aggies depend on their special campus camaraderie and atmosphere and it certainly seems appealing to Dallas Christian junior offensive lineman Chris Adcock. Adcock was one of 500 national underclass invitees to the U.S. Army Combine last week in San Antonio. The 6-3, 290-pounder who helped lead the Chargers to a TAPPS state title and undefeated season said he thinks he's gotten the Aggies' spirit. "None of my family are Aggies," Adcock said. "I know a couple of people from our school that went there and they kind of got me interested. I just started following them recently." Adcock has been on the Aggies' early recruiting mailing list and he traveled to College Station twice during the season. "I went to the Kansas State and Oklahoma games," Adcock said. "(A&M) has an amazing tradition and I was really impressed with the facilities. I talked to the offensive line coach (Jim Turner) and one of the graduate assistants (Kirk Elder). They told me that they were real impressed with my film. They said that they wanted to get me down there for a junior day." Adcock is a first-team All-State TAPPS football selection who has the athleticism to play basketball and baseball for DC. He went through the Army combine testing and one-on-one drills in competing against some of the top prospects in the country. "I did 22 reps at 185 pounds on the bench press," Adcock said. " I probably won seven or eight out of about 10 one-on-ones. I definitely won more than I lost. I held up good even though a lot of big old dudes were there. It was interesting to see all of the competition out there." TCU, Kansas, Virginia, Minnesota and Missouri also have shown interest.

Adcock is a stud... No Doubt. In fact, A&M's pursuit of the dual sport Junior seems all too familiar. .. Lets go back 11 years to look at another blue chipper that A&M made sure the red carpet led straight to Kyle Field....The local legend in my day was also a Charger who's athletic ability also silenced the critics who doubted the TAPPS talent pool... Choo Freeman a 3-sport athlete, helped Dallas Christian High School to six state championships...in his senior year of 1998, DCHS won the Texas state baseball title, while Freeman was named district MVP...was also all-state in basketball...a 3-time all-state football player, Choo caught more touchdowns (50) than any player in Texas prep history and his 3,300-plus receiving yards ranked 4th in state annals...signed a letter of intent to play football at Texas A&M before the Rockies drafted him a bit unexpectantly with the 10th overall pick of the 1998 draft....
