History in the Making

Tuesday, April 1, 2008

Besides the snow, there were other things falling in Eastern Oklahoma this winter. The all-time scoring record held by Ty Harman for 19 years was broke by none other than Rotnei Clarke of Verdigris. His 37 points against Adair was more than enough to place his name in the record books. This historical winter continued with the Lady Redskins from Union and the Lady Hornets from Booker T. Washington winning their first ever state title. We have all the historic moments featured this month.
But if you’re looking for baseball then we have you covered. The two players on the cover are Nick Farnsworth from Union and Bobby Bundy from Sperry. These two are on fire as scouts from major league teams try to figure out what round they should be drafted in. And yes, they’re really on fire.
An unbelievable accomplishment of nine straight state titles by the Bishop Kelley girls soccer team is also a record setter. Can the Lady Comets make it 10?
The brain trust at HSSTM came up with another edition of the All-Winter team for 2007-08. Check out who made the basketball, wrestling and swimming teams this year.
This month’s edition of Family Affair features sisters Grace and Kay Durbin from Edison Preparatory School. Both are soccer players and both have aspirations of attending the same college. Check out this set of twins and a special guest they had for their photo shoot.
In case you haven’t heard, our website is going crazy. We posted the video of Clarke breaking the record, added another How To and watched the forum blow up with football news. Log on, sign up and voice your opinion on a variety of topics. Spring football is just around the corner. Visit us at www.hsstm.com and make yourself known.
