Friday, December 19, 2008

The Visitation Blazers, the schools athletic teams, have experienced great success this year and several of this year's seniors will be continuing their athletic career in college. Elizabeth Walston (pictured top right) will attend Saint Anselm College in New Hampshire, Kelly Reagan (pictured bottom right) will attend Holy Cross in Massachusetts, and Sophie Pilhofer (main photo) will attend Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota. Elizabeth Walston, with six varsity hockey letters, is a team co-captain of the Visitation/Saint Paul Academy St. Paul United Hockey team. She will continue her hockey career for the NCAA Division III Saint Anselm College Women's Hockey team. The Saint Anselm College Hawks Women's Hockey team is a member of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) East Conference. In connection with the admission acceptance, Elizabeth was awarded the Abbot Bertrand Dolan O.S.B. scholarship for academic achievement and commitment to excellence. Elizabeth has also been awarded a scholarship through the Minnesota Association of Korean Americans for scholastic and athletic achievement. Elizabeth will major in Criminal Justice at Saint Anselm College. Kelly Reagan, with 12 varsity letters (four in golf, four in swimming, and four in alpine skiing), is a team captain of the Visitation Golf team. Kelly was accepted Early Decision at Holy Cross, which is an NCAA Division 1 school and competes in the Patriot League. She will be playing golf at Holy Cross for Coach Bob Molt. Kelly will major in pre-med. In addition to being a three-sport athlete, Kelly volunteers in her community and participates in athletic events outside of Visitation. Kelly has participated in three short course triathlons, placing in the top five in all three. Sophie Pilhofer, a five-time All American swimmer with six varsity letters, is a two-time team captain of the Visitation Swim/Dive team, who won its fourth consecutive Class A State Championship in 2008, setting a new modern-era record. Sophie was accepted Early Decision at Carleton College, which is an NCAA Division III school and competes in the MIAC League. She will swim for coaches Andy Clark and Brooks Larsen. Sophie is on the high honor role and is also committed to community service. She spearheaded the school's Operation Glass Slipper efforts.
