Highland Park Headed to State

Highland Park avenged two regular-season losses to District 10-4A rival Richardson Pearce to earn its second try at a state volleyball title and its first tournament berth since 2003. Highland Park will play Lake Travis in the state semifinals Thursday at 7 p.m. at Texas State University's Strahan Coliseum in San Marcos. The Scots needed four games to eliminate Pearce, 24-22, 25-19, 20-25, 25-23. Auburn signee Katherine Culwell led Highland Park with 25 kills and 19 digs in the Class 4A Region II final. Laurel Pugliese had 17 digs and nine kills. Tori Freeman added 32 assists and 10 digs.
