St. Mark's to Play for SPC Title

St. Mark's has the chance to win back-to-back state titles after defeating Bellaire Episcopal, 33-28, Saturday in Houston St. Mark's (6-3, 5-1) will play Tulsa Holland Hall for the SPC Division I championship Saturday in Tulsa. St. Mark's quarterback Kirk Hayes passed for 390 yards and three touchdowns against Bellaire Episcopal on Saturday. Ty Montgomery had eight receptions for 132 yards and a touchdown for St. Mark's, andTerdema Ussery added seven catches for 141 yards and a TD. Whit Shaw got things started for St. Mark's by returning a kickoff 93 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter. He also ended Bellaire Episcopal's comeback bid with an interception with 41 seconds left. Dean Itani's 40-yard field goal in the third quarter gave St. Mark's a 30-28 lead. He later added a 22-yard field goal.
