State Champions 4A - Heritage Hall 5A - Bishop Kelley 6A - Owasso Simply the Best The best team around: Heritage Hall - The Chargers dominated the competition the entire year in winning their fourth straight Class 4A state championship. They finished 32-1, suffering their only loss to 5A state champ Bishop Kelley. But Heritage Hall avenged that loss, along with beating powerhouses Edmond North, Edmond Memorial, Edmond Santa Fe and Bishop McGuinness. The Chargers, led by their three seniors - Tyler Henderson, Jessica Adams and Adrienne Totoro - beat Cascia Hall to end the season with the gold ball. Standout Performers These players had outstanding performances in the state tournament: Elizabeth McVicker and Taylor Summers, Owasso - These two senior outside hitters were simply phenomenal on the net. Both 6-footers were named co-MVP's of the state tournament. Whether it's defense blocking shots or hitting or dinking it down the line, both girls are capable of big plays and turning games around. Tyler Henderson, Heritage Hall - No one was more dominant this year than Henderson. She overpowered opponents to help finish her career with four straight 4A state titles. The senior also finished as the 4A state tournament MVP for the second straight season. Mindy Gowen, Edmond Santa Fe - The senior had an outstanding state tournament, leading the way with her defense and passing to lead the Wolves to 6A state runner-up finish for the second straight year. Jessica Adams, Heritage Hall - One of the most unheralded players in the state, the senior's versatility was a big reason the Chargers won their fourth straight 4A state title. She stood out on defense and offense. Bishop Kelley Volleyball - The Lady Comets prove once again they are the dominate volleyball program in the state. Head coach Jerri Wadsworth continues to win build a dynasty of volleyball excellence at Kelley. Don't Forget About Me These players may have been overlooked, but they are valuable to their team: Heather Greer, Christian Heritage - The sophomore middle hitter developed into a valuable weapon and help the Crusaders to the 4A state tournament in just their second season in the OSSAA. Tatum Colburn, Shawnee - The 5-foot-11 middle hitter provided experience and shot powerful offense on an experienced team that made the 5A state tournament. Ali Daniels, Broken Arrow - The senior outside hitter had a great season in her final campaign for a state title. She is considered by her peers as one of the hardest hitters in the state and is a great teammate. MichawnTuia, Broken Arrow - This senior middle hitter is a leader for the Lady Tigers and has the respect of players and coaches in the class. Senior Sensations These players ended their careers with style: Emily Cobbs, Edmond North - The four-year starter ended her career as the best setter in the state. She helped the Huskies to the 6A state tournament this year. Amy Lewis, Bishop Kelley - Arguably one of the best setters in the state regardless of class. Lewis helped the Lady Comets to another state title this season. Sarah Horn, Edmond Memorial - The senior outside hitter led her young team with her kills and leadership. She helped Memorial finish with a 27-4 record and was ranked No.1 most of the season. Brittni Walker, Carl Albert - The senior moved around to do whatever her team needed her to do. Her unselfishness and ability to step in as a setter helped the Titans capture their first state tournament win in school history in 5A. Constance Ezugha, Edmond Santa Fe - The senior was the offensive catalyst for the 6A state champions. Whenever the Wolves needed a point, they went to the outside hitter for a kill. Players to watch next year Keep an eye on these players next season: Carissa Villaflor, Heritage Hall - She is adapt at digging the ball and creating offense for her team. She will be looked upon to lead a young team next year. Sam Smith, Broken Arrow - The sophomore gained a ton of valuable experience this season and was able to play next to Ali Daniels and MichawnTuia. Tate Hardaker, Edmond Santa Fe - The junior developed into one of the most feared hitters in the state this year. Watch for her to have a huge season next year. Torrie Flynn, Edmond North - The 6-1 junior middle hitter is a force on the inside blocking and hitting the ball. Carissa Ophus, Jenks - The sophomore is the third sister in a line of Ophus sisters that have dominated volleyball at Jenks. Danni Gardner, Owasso - The sophomore outside hitter will take the place of one of two seniors graduating.
