Raiders pull off another stunner

Cretin-Derham Hall is off to the State Class AAA Volleyball Tournament for the first time in two years after the Raiders completed their Cinderella run through the Section 4 playoffs with a five-game defeat of Stillwater in the final on Thursday night at St. Paul Arlington High School. Fourth-seeded, two nights after shocking top-seed and defending section champion Woodbury, went the distance to upend No. 2 seed Stillwater (25-23, 16-25, 25-21, 14-25, 15-11) and qualify for State. The Raiders were one of four section champions to be determined on Thursday, joining Wayzata (Section 6), Andover (Section 7) and Alexandria (Section 8) in the field for next week's Class AAA playoffs, to be held at the Xcel Energy Center.
