This Week's National Matchups #6-10

Friday, October 31, 2008

#10 Glenville Academic Campus (Cleveland, Ohio) - vs. Brecksville. Last week's result: defeated East 41-0. Defensively the Tarblooders have to be one of the top teams in the country only allowing 42 in ten games, that's about four points per game. During the last three weeks, Glenville outscored their opponents by 144-0. They have six shutouts this season and two other games where they only allow 6 points each game. Brecksville is in for a long night. The bottom line...Glenville wins by four touchdowns and maybe more. #9 South Panola (Batesville, Mississippi) - vs. Starkville. Last week's results: defeated Southaven 35-7. The Tigers are riding an 83 game winning streak including five Mississippi 5A state championships. The string of wins dates back to August 28, 2003. This week the Tigers should roll over a 2-6 Starkville team. The bottom line...South Panola wins by 27. #8 Lowndes (Valdosta, Georgia) - at Coffee County. Last week's result: defeated Houston County 52-14. The Vikings have put up gawdy numbers against inferior competition and have won solidly in all games. This week will be a tough game as they travel to a 7-1 Coffee County. The Trojans have been struggling defensively lately, but have still been winning. This game is for all the marbles in the AAAAA Region 1 district. The bottom line...closer than comfortable for Lowndes. Vikes by 10. #7 North Shore Galena Park (Houston, Texas) - at Lee. Last week's results: defeated Sterling 49-3. The Mustangs took care of a 5-2 Sterling team last week and now face a 2-4 Lee team that is struggling this season. The only way that Lee has a chance in this game is if North Shore looks past them to next week's game with undefeated West Brook. The bottom line...Mustangs by 31. #6 Oscar Smith (Chesapeake, Virginia) - vs. Lakeland. Last week's result: defeated Deep Creek 49-0. The Tigers hope to round out their regular season without a loss and Lakeland should help them accomplish that task. Smith has only allowed 13 points in the last five games, while scoring 229 points in that same time frame. Not much change here. The bottom line...Smith by five touchdowns.
