High School Sports The Magazine has released the newest addition to our site: the Europe and Pacific international sites!

“These sites add an instant value to us and our readers,” commented Brock Sawyer, Director of Online Production. “There are a number of student athletes that play sports overseas, but don’t get the recognition that they fully deserve. We want to change that.”

One staff member has a tie-in to the Department of Defense schools. Brad Heath, Editor of the Eastern Oklahoma magazine, was an athlete while his father was stationed in Okinawa. Heath attended school at Kubasaki High School while living on base with his family.

“We want to recognize the kids overseas who give it their all, day in and day out, just as our kids do here, stateside,” Heath said. “It is such an interesting dynamic when a team has to travel for hours, usually by plane, just to play a game.”

“These athletes have to deal with the fact that they have schoolwork, athletics, and a parent who is actively serving in the military. It creates a different environment than kids have in America,” he added.

HSSTM.com is working closely with Stars & Stripes, the news agency for all things regarding the military life. Dave Ornauer is a long time writer for Stars and Stripes and will work alongside High School Sports The Magazine, as well as Marcus George and Jon Fick. George and Fick are both coaches in Europe and Pacific, respectively.

These are exciting days for HSSTM.com and for the athletes that we will represent and cover.
