We're three weeks away from the start of the state football playoffs, but it seems like we're never out of recruiting season. A pair of players from Rockwall and Rockwall-Heath continue to gain momentum. TCU Likes Arterburn Rockwall linebacker Aaron Arterburn got an offer last weekend from TCU and the nationally ranked Frogs. And Texas A&M has offered the 6-2, 215-pound Arterburn a scholarship for the spring of 2010. Arterburn went to TCU's 54-7 victory last Saturday over Wyoming. He visited with TCU players and assistant coaches Dick Bumpas and Dan Sharp. TCU hadn't made a formal scholarship offer until his visit with head coach Gary Patterson. "We just started talking and he brought an envelope off of his desk and said we're offering you," Arterburn said. Arterburn took an unofficial visit Oct. 18 to Texas A&M for the Texas Tech game. He met with A&M defensive coordinator Joe Kines. The Aggies are offering a scholarship for the spring semester of 2010 if Arterburn wants to enroll at A&M as a walk-on for the fall of '09. Arterburn still is trying to get Rockwall in the state playoffs as he fights through injuries to his hand and a small fracture in his foot. He's the Yelllowjackets' leading tackler with 95, including four quarterback sacks. He's also spent some time at running back and picked up two rushing touchdowns. His final three choices are TCU, A&M and Northwestern. He hopes to be making a decision soon. SMU Joins Chase for Lawrence Heath running back Kendial Lawrence has been electric in answering questions about his size. At 5-7, 180 pounds, he had 306 yards and three touchdown in last week's 49-45 overtime win against Richardson Pearce. With his season numbers growing to 1,607 yards with 26 touchdowns, Lawrence picked up an offer from SMU on Sunday night. Leading Heath toward a showdown against Highland Park on Nov. 6. Lawrence also has offers from Kansas, Arizona, Mississippi State, Southern Miss and Buffalo. He's rising on Texas Tech's prospect list and is planning on attending the Tech game against Oklahoma in Lubbock. Tech Recruiting Fossil Ridge Kicker And with Texas Tech's well-chronicled kicking problems, the Red Raiders are working on Keller Fossil Ridge's Chris Boswell to be a recruited walk-on to take a shot at solving the problem for the next four years. Another Allen Commit Allen defensive back Jeremy Reeves committed to Iowa State after receiving an offer after taking the official visit. Reeves, who returned a kickoff for a touchdown in the Eagles' win over Plano, is a speedy, three-sport star at Allen. Several Eagles are considered major college prospects. Allen wide receiver Uzoma Nwachukwu and defensive back Steven Terrell have committed to Texas A&M. Senior defensive lineman Nate Bonsu and offensive lineman Cody Milam are DI prospects. For 2010, quarterback Matt Brown and defensive back Cheyenne Urban are prospects. Reeves had received an offer from New Mexico State but only interest from Louisville, Utah, Kansas, Kansas State, Tulsa, Baylor, SMU and North Texas. Iowa State head coach Gene Chizik, the former assistant head coach at Texas, was instrumental in Reeves' decision. Chizik was defensive coordinator when the Longhorns won the 2005 national title.
