Here is a roundup of the results of the top 5 games of the week: Guthrie 35, Shawnee 17 The defending Class 5A state champion Guthrie got back in the winning track after beating Shawnee. The Bluejays did it with a balanced offensive attack, throwing and running the ball well. Mustang 38, Putnam City North 17 Putnam City North scored early in the third quarter to cut Mustang's lead to 20-14. But the Broncos dominated from there, scoring 18 straight points to run away from the Panthers. Mustang reamins undefeated on the season at 8-0 while Putnam North has to battle in the final two weeks of the season to make the playoffs at 5-3. Lawton MacArthur 49, Altus 7 Lawton MacArthur got back to its winning ways in a big way, routing Altus to get back firmly in the Class 5A playoff race. The Highlanders had lost two straight games, but rebounded well on Friday night by beating Altus, which was in first place in District 5A-1. The Highlanders got back in the district title race and a possible home playoff game in the first round with two games left in the season. Carl Albert 49, Ardmore 7 Carl Albert made sure it didn't overlook Ardmore, routing the Tigers to make a big statement. Carl Albert, wich beat previously undefeated Guthrie last week, scored 35 points in the first half and remained the favorite to capture the District 5A-2 title. The Titans did not have a letdown after last week's big win. Ardmore lost for the second straight week. Purcell 27, Bethany 17 These two teams came into the game very similar offensively, defensively and winning six straight games each. But it was Purcell that distinguished itself this game, beating Bethany behind a balanced offensive attack. The win most likely gives Purcell the District 3A-2 title with two games left. Bethany will have to battle it out for second and third place with a home playoff game on the line in the final weeks of the season.
