UIL Rejects Bowling, Gymnastics, Indoor Track

State bowling champion Allen won't be defending a University Interscholastic League state title any time soon. The UIL's standing committee on athletics elected to not endorse proposals to make gymnastics, bowling or indoor track and field UIL sports. The committee did recommend the following proposals for sanctioned varsity athletics: - Moving up the starting date of softball practice - Allowing golf coaches to communicate with players between holes - Allow regional track and field qualifiers and alternates to enter any event at a qualifiers meet Final changes require approval of the UIL legislative council.
