Fast-pitch Softball Championships

Sunday, October 12, 2008

ASA Hall of Fame Stadium this past weekend was busy with state tournament fast-pitch softball action. The CLass 4A through B state champions were determined on Saturday with some fantastic performances by teams and players. Tuttle captured its second straight Class 4A state title by winning three straight come-from-behind victories in the state tournament. The Tigers won by one run in eight innings in both the quarterfinals and semifinals. Then, the Tigers trailed Fort Gibson 5-0 in the state title came, but battled back and won on a solo homerun from sophomore Nicole Workman in the bottom of the seventh inning to celebrate another title. Washington moved up a class to 3A this past season and had no problem adjusting. The Warriors won the state championship with a 5-2 victory over Adiar in the title game. The Warriors were led by the outstanding hitting of senior catcher Caitlyn Marcum, who had a strong state tournament. She connected on a homerun, scored a run and had an RBI double in the title game.
