Colorado trip gives Allen's Bonsu first plane ride The wonders of recruiting took on a new level for Allen senior defensive lineman Nate Bonsu when he visited Colorado this month. The nationally recruited Eagle visited the Boulder _ and took his first plane ride along the way. Bonsu (6-2, 275) is ranked among the nation's top recruits by Rivals.com. He's narrowed his favorites to Colorado, Arkansas, Kansas and Tulsa. He has offers from Arizona, BYU, Georgia Tech, Iowa State, Louisville, Southern Miss, UNLV, Utah, TCU and Washington State as well. The trip to Colorado was his first official visit. "I got to go to their party on Pearl Street the day before the game," Bonsu said. " The fans are great, the people in the city of Boulder are great, the coaches are great and the facilities are nice. I liked everything." Bonsu's visit fit in well with Allen's Thursday night game against Monterrey Tec earlier this season. Bonsu is one of several Allen players getting recruited. Allen teammates _ safety Steven Terrell and receiver Uzoma Nwahukwu _ already have committed to Texas A&M. Running back Jeremiah Williams, receiver Dakarai Pecikonis, defensive back Jeremy Reeves and offensive lineman Cody Milam also are candidates who could receive scholarship offers from colleges at a variety of levels. Among Allen's juniors, quarterback Matt Brown already has an offer from Nebraska. Offensive lineman Cedric Ogbuehi (6-5, 250) helped his ranking with a solid performance against Plano West's highly rated Jackson Jeffcoat in Allen's 37-14 win last Friday. Aggies may lose Carter commit Carter defensive lineman Chris Henderson committed early to Texas A&M, but he's starting to get a wandering eye. He's talking to Colorado, Oklahoma and Kansas about taking visits. Henderson has helped Carter (4-0) get off to a fast start in its first year in Class 4A. He has 20 tackles and six sacks. Part of Henderson's motivation is to get an invitation to the U.S. Army All-American Game in San Antonio the first week of 2009... Duncanville G back on market Duncanville guard Reger Dowell finds himself unexpectedly back on the market for the Class of 2009. Dowell committed to Arizona several months ago, but Arizona recently got a commit from a higher rated guard and the 6-1 Dowell finds himself looking elsewhere. It's the not-so-glamorous part of recruiting. Dowell is one of three top recruits for defending 5A state champ Duncanville. Senior 6-7 forward Shawn Williams has committed to Texas and 6-4 forward Roger Franklin has committed to Oklahoma State. ESD's 6-7 Jeff Georgatos has committed to Harvard. He'll be a 3-point shooter in the Ivy League. North Texas' top-ranked player is Richland guard Nolan Dennis, who has committed to NCAA championship finalist Memphis. Texas' No. 1-ranked player is Killeen's 6-7 forward Cory Jefferson, who has committed to Baylor. You'll see last year's highly rated DFW stars shining quickly in the upcoming college season. North Crowley guard Willie Warren is at Oklahoma and South Oak Cliff forward J'Mison Morgan is at UCLA. Private school rankings Grapevine Faith upset Fort Worth Nolan last week. Faith has steadily grown from a small enrollment school into a TAPPS Division I contender. Grapevine Faith was 13-1 and reached the Division III final last year but was moved up to Division I with the new TAPPS realignment. Grapevine Faith will play host to John Paul this week before a showdown with No. 1-ranked TCA-Addison in a district matchup Oct. 10. Vype's Private School poll 1. TCA-Addison 2. Dallas Christian 3.
