District play is here! Who will shock, who will dominate and who will start district play 1-0? 6A Bartlesville at Muskogee - Key Players- Bartlesville- QB Kirby Schoenthaler, WR Clay Jenkins, DE Justin Butterfield, LB Isaac Costello. Muskogee - QB Archie Bradley, LB Erik Howell, NG Robert Thomas, RB Vernon Scott. The Bruins are coming off a big non-district loss to Enid while Muskogee is looking to rebound from a disappointing loss to Union. Expect Muskogee to get back on track and bruise the Bruins, 34-17. Owasso at Enid - Key Players - Owasso - RB Jaques Washington, OL Gavin Howard, OL Brandon Web (if he plays), OL Trent Spurgeon, LB Jake Bray. Enid - QB Clint Chelf, WR Seth Sturgeon, RB Dylan Nave. Owasso started the season 0-3 and do not want to go 0-4. However Enid is solid and playing very well. Quarterback Clint Chelf is proving he's deserving of playing college ball at the University of Tulsa. Enid puts another goose egg in the win column for Owasso, 24-21. Memorial at Sand Springs - Key Players - Memorial - QB Tyler Simms, OL Garrett Stafford, WR Dominique Cornelius. Sand Springs - QB Johnny Deaton, OL/DL Anthony Bowie, LB/RB Znick Ferrell, OL Lance Kitchens. The Sandites are much improved this season and Memorial has been tested. The Chargers put up a ton of points against Hale after going down, 14-0. Sand Springs is home and we like the Sandites in their house, 42-28. 5A Bishop Kelley at Booker T. Washington - Key Players - Bishop Kelley - DE/TE Mark Hayes, TB Steven Sherwood, WR Joe Dowdell, NG BJ Evan. Booker T. Washington - RB/LB Michael Doctor, RB/CB Justin Skillens, OL Keenan Taylor, DL Calvin Barnett. The Hornets are home at S.E. Williams after a home loss to Broken Arrow. Key players are hurt and could be a factor in the outcome. Kelley is rolling and getting better every week. They should keep it close, but eventually the Hornets should pull it out, 38-21. Miami at Bixby - Key Players - Miami - QB Grant Longcrier, OL/DL Taylor Calbyer, S Josh White. Bixby - RB Dalton Irvin, S/LB Tyler McGrew, QB Kevin Lamb, OL/DL Taylor Schuyler. The Spartans got off to a rough start going 0-2, but have rebounded. Miami is a good team, but going on the long road trip and playing on the new field in Bixby won't be easy. The Spartans should take care of business at home, 17-14. 4A McLain at Grove - Key Players - McLain - QB/LB Shawn Jackson, OL Marseice Warrior, WR Tony Hooks, OL/DL Kerry Burks. Grove - QB Corey Davenport, LB Dusty Gehrke, WR Michael Hudgens, LB Bobby Harris. This may be the game of the week. Two hard hitting teams with great quarterbacks. Jackson for McLain could be the states most underrated player while Davenport has been getting the job done for the Ridgerunners. When the dust settles McLain gets a huge win on the road, 28-20. 3A Victory Christian at Cascia Hall - Key Players - Victory - QB Jason Turner, OL/DL Matt Dumond, WR Matt Letney, NG Alex Oden. Cascia Hall - WR/CB Price Pinkerton, QB Sam Clancy, OLB Ransom LaLonde, DL Danny Husband. Victory is primed and ready to upset Cascia at home. The Commandos are missing a few players from the lineup, but it's still Cascia and they can still play great football. How can you pick against coach Medina and the Commandos at home? Cascia wins, 42-24. 2A Lincoln Christian at Verdigris - Key Players - Lincoln Christian - RB/WR Josh Daugherty, LB Cody Wilson, OL Marc Stahl, OL Zac Fullingim. Verdigris - WR Blake Bishop, WR Devin Bachmeler, LB Kevin Stout. The loss to Shiloh Christian two weeks ago broke the home game winning streak for the Bulldogs. Now they take the show on the road to Verdigris where they should get back on the winning track. Look for a big game from Daugherty and a win for the Bulldogs, 49-14. Other games to watch include; 6A Jenks at Claremore, Stillwater at Union, 5A Coweta at McAlester, Hale at Skiatook, 4A Glenpool at Seminole, Sallisaw at Broken Bow, 3A Inola at Berryhill, Metro Christian at Hugo, 2A Sperry at Chelsea, Spiro at Panama, A Wynnewood at Dewar, Morrison at Hominy, B Welch at Cave Springs, Depew at Wetumka, C Webbers Falls at Maud, IND NOAH at Casady.

Ya you're right. I missed that one. So I went 7-1 this week in picks. Not bad. You're right though, both of these teams are playoffs teams. This was really the game of the week. Great match-up. Can't wait to see Grove in person.
Guess you were wrong! When the dust settled it was Grove over McClain 21-6. Two very good offensive teams played a defensive battle. Shawn Jackson is an amazing player for McClain, but Grove didn't ride on just one player. Corey Davenport, Dusty Gherke, Weston Culvey, Ryan Miller, and TJ Griffith were just a few of the players that made a difference in this game. McClain has some big boys and a lot of speed. Expect to see both teams in the playoffs.
