What a Finish

Friday, September 19, 2008

Come from behind wins are never easy. Come from behind wins on the road during your opponents Homecoming is never easy. And just beating Claremore Sequoyah, no matter when you play them, is never easy. But that's exactly what Oologah and Jordan Barrett did Thursday night. Barrett quarterbacked the Mustangs to a 34-28 come from behind win at Sequoyah. The score was 7-0 when the second quarter started. Sequoyah had a long run of 50-yards from Dakota Green. Then Barrett connected with Dakota Hudgens on a nine yard pass and the Mustangs were on the board. Oologah would give up another touchdown to Sequoyah when Michael Wangsgard punched one in from 15-yards out. Barrett and the Mustangs would answer when Barrett tucked the ball and ran one in from 5-yards. Going into halftime the score was, 14-13 Sequoyah. In the third quarter Cody Richardson broke away from the pack for a 47-yard touchdown run and it looked as though the Eagles were going to pull away. That's when Barrett hit Collier for a 62-yard touchdown pass, but the 2-point conversion was no good. The fourth quarter witnessed the Mustangs explode for 15 points. However Wangsgard scored on a 66-yard pass from Richardson, but Barrett and the Mustangs were too much in the fourth quarter. Barrett hit Hudgens for a 15-yard touchdown then ran one from eight yards out. Barrett had to drive the field and score on the run to give the Mustangs their first lead of the night. The 2-point conversion put them up by six. Sequoyah rushed for 322 yards and passed for 93. Richardson had 143 yards on the ground. The Mustangs ran for 161 yards and passed for 206.
