Weekend Update

Highlights from the weekend that was around all the fall sports: Warren Central 42 Ben Davis 21 The Warriors are off to a flying start under first-year coach John Hart, after dominating Ben Davis for much of the game. In another battle for early MIC supremacy, Warren Central proved its mettle. Ben Davis (3-1) had been unstoppable in the running game to open the season (nearly 1,000 yards in just three games), but Warren Central (4-0) held the Giants in check (160 rush yards). Eric Williams scored two touchdowns and ran for a 148 yards, while backfield mate George Cheeseborough ran for 109 yards and a two-point conversion. Junior quarterback Derek Hart completed six passes for 137 yards and three TDs. Cathedral 15 Chatard 14 Cathedral needed a win to get back on track following two tough losses to nationally ranked teams. The Irish got it when Chatard failed to convert on a two-point conversion with less than two minutes remaining in the game. Cathedral's Nick Najem ran for 115 yards and a touchdown as the Irish improved to 2-2. The Class 3A defending champion Trojans fell to 3-1, despite Ari Pappas 108 rushing yards and two touchdowns.
