Ponies, Blazers are the preseason coaches' picks in the pool

The Stillwater Ponies, a fourth-place finisher from 2007, are the top-ranked team in the pre-season Class AA Minnesota State Coaches Association coaches poll. Three-time defending State champion Visitation is the No. 1 team in the Class A rankings.
Defending Class AA champion Maple Grove is ranked second, followed by Eden Prairie, Edina, Wayzata, Minnetonka, Burnsville, Lakeville South, Elk River and Woodbury.
In Class A, Monticello is ranked second behind the Blazers, followed by Fergus Falls, Hill-Murray, Red Wing, Hutchinson, Sartell, Benilde-St. Margaret's, Breck and Willmar.
The 2008 season begins in earnest after Labor Day.
