Mounds View grad swapped for Guardado

St. Paul, MN

Tuesday, August 26, 2008

Mounds View High School alum Mark Hamburger was traded by the Minnesota Twins to the Texas Rangers in a deal for Eddie Guardado, who saved 86 games in a two-year span in 2002 and 2003 before joining the Seattle Mariners as a free agent. Hamburger, a 21-year-old who signed with the Twins after taking part in the team's tryout camp in 2007, will be assigned to the Rangers' Class A club in Clinton, Iowa after tallying 13 saves for Rookie League Elizabethon this year.
