Buhler has high hopes this season with many starters returning.

"The kids have been working really hard. We know that the schedule is going to be tough," said Warner. "Opening against Andover will be tough, but we're getting good senior leadership so far."

The Buhler Crusaders had one of the best seasons in the history of the high school last season, but they want more. Excitement is at its peak in the community from the elementary school all the way up to the senior class. This could be their most promising year yet.

We caught up with coach Steve Warner to find out how practices have been going:

"The kids have been working really hard. We know that the schedule is going to be tough," said Warner. "Opening against Andover will be tough, but we're getting good senior leadership so far."

On the offense, which struggled last season:

"I think having our quarterback Josh Madden back will really help us out," said Warner. "Junior Jordan Oden and senior Max Mitchell in the backfield will also help the offense to be more productive."

Those two running backs combined for 974 yards rushing last season.

On the enthusiasm in practice:

"The kids have been really excited to hit. You have a week-long camp without pads." said Warner. "Kids are always ready to respond when those pads come on and they've really done well with those collisions."

The Crusaders have nine days to prepare to face the Trojans on September 5th.
