Rose Hill's Foltz Flourishes in Early TCU Practices

As August begins, so does football. That means many things: tailgating, marching bands and athletes in the trenches fighting for playing time. Former Rose Hill lineman Blaize Foltz is doing exactly that and turning some heads. When college football practice began on Monday across the country, Foltz was the only freshman at TCU who was consistently taking reps on the second team. Foltz is backing up both the left and right guard positions behind two seniors who are returning starters. Whether Foltz will see the field or not this season will probably come down to injuries. Whether or not the coaches decide to use up a year of Foltz' eligibility as a backup or if they get enough confidence in some of the other sophomores or juniors who haven't stepped up yet will also play a big part in the decision making. Texas Christian has ten juniors and seniors coming back on the line, but the coaches seem to be very impressed with Foltz thus far. Horned Frog fans have also been pleasantly surprised by Foltz' performance in practice. There is a lot of chatter on TCU message boards. Here is a one comment from Purplemenace.com. "Well, Foltz did play other sports and that possibly allows for more athletic development for big guys. Talked to one coaches who thought he was the best of his class of TCU recruits. The kid from Kansas is showing everybody up in the class of 08 recruits. His clips are very impressive. The guy can move as I watched him play defense. He was definitely underrated by the media and press. What a find for us!" The whole Texas Christian University program is very excited by the addition of Foltz, and they are looking for big things from him in the future. Foltz was unavailable for comment on Wednesday.
