I hear that Wylie assistant baseball coach – and D-BAT Mustangs coach Brian Jones is the new head baseball coach at Jesuit.
Jones replaces Kevin Williamson, who leaves the Jesuit program after 11 years. In 1999, Jones won a TCIL state title in his first season, a UIL regional title in 2004 and was the Dallas Morning News Coach of the Year in 2004.
“Obviously Jesuit is a great, high profile school with a great baseball program,” Jones said.
Before assisting Wylie head coach Dustin Toth, Jones was head coach at Carrollton Creekview and Greenville, as well as, an assistant at Mesquite Poteet.
Wylie’s All-State Tight End to QB?
That’s right. Third-team All-State tight end Noah Chesier will start the season as Wylie’s quarterback. Chesier steps into the void left by the graduation of Jerod Monk, who, ironically enough, is switching to tight end at TCU.
Chesier, who also performed some fullback duties during Wylie’s run to the 2008 5A Division II state final game, has been running the Pirates offense during this summer’s 7-on-7 tournaments, and figures to be tough to stop near the goal line. Offensive coordinator Shanon Purcell will likely move Chesier around in the pocket – as he did Monk.
Chesier, who is 6-4, 235, expects colleges to continue recruiting him as a tight end.

North Crowley Coach at W.T. White
North Crowley offensive coordinator Eric Ezar has taken the head coach job at W.T. White.
Ezar is a 1990 graduate of White, where he was a four-year letterman in baseball and two-year letterman in football.
It’s Ezar’s first foray into being a head coach after being an assistant at Fort Worth Brewer, L.D. Bell and Waxahachie.
Frisco Softball Coach Takes Prosper Job
After 30 years of coaching Frisco Raccoon softball, coach Max Bledsoe is putting off retirement to take the same job at Prosper.
Plano’s Own Tiger Woods?
Or maybe the next Jordan Spieth? I’m not going to put THAT kind of pressure on a 12-year-old, but high school golf boosters have taken notice of Plano golfer William Zalatoris.
Zalatoris’ sixth-place finish at the HP Byron Nelson Junior Championship was surprising in that the next oldest finisher was three years older than him. Zalatoris shot 71-74-72 to finish 4-over par at the Lakewood Country Club.
