Bundy, Flynn Earn All-American Honors

Monday, July 28, 2008

Two of Oklahoma's high school baseball players were named as All-Americans. Brian Flynn of Owasso and Bobby Bundy of Sperry were the two deserving standouts. Bundy, six foot two and an arm of a machine was the first player to be taken from Oklahoma in the MLB draft. He was signed with Arkansas when his name was called in the 8th round by the Baltimore Orioles. Bobby played through most of the season with a knee injury that he suffered while playing basketball early on in the season, although injured Bundy helped the Pirates to win the 3A state title, defeating Beggs 15-2. Bundy finished the season with 111 strikeouts, which is easy to do when you can through a mid-ninety mph fastball, he went 9-1 on the mound that left him with a 0.90 ERA. Bobby just as good at the plate as on the mound ended his senior year with .542 hit 10 homeruns and received some time at third. Mr. Brian Flynn stands at six foot eight and tosses the ball around on the left side. Coming from Owasso where baseball domination is demanded, Flynn was able to rise up to the challenge, leading the Rams to their second strait Title. Brian's arm that moves a baseball more like a speeding car than anything else, had scouts drooling from the start of evaluation. It was no surprise when he was placed on the Boston Red Sox Roster in the 18th round. Flynn went 9-1 on the hill with an ERA of 0.79 through 70 2/3 innings, he also had a record of 126 strikeouts and gave only 21 walks.
