Fast Break - Rankings Rumblings Class 2A
Eastern Oklahoma, OK
|
|
|
Here are the top 10 in Class 2A
Boys
Pawnee Black Bears (26-3)
Keiton Page (5-foot-10, senior) is an explosive player who’s not afraid of going against anyone. No more runner-up here.
Crescent Tigers (16-11)
The team’s leading scorer is Prince Shaw (6-foot-2, senior) who averaged close to 30 points per game last year.
Foyil Panthers (20-9)
Taylor Antle (6-foot-3, senior) is an underrated player in Class 2A. Antle is versatile and dangerous when he’s in a groove.
Oktaha Tigers (22-6)
Senior Weston Elam (6-foot-4) is a big reason the Tigers will make a run in the playoffs this season.
Oklahoma Christian Saints (26-3)
Not the same team from last year, the saints will depend on several guys to get the job done including George Overbey and Jon Merrill.
Porum Panthers (19-6)
All five starters are back, but the question is will that be enough in this tough class? Watch for big games from Justin and Jason Turpin.
Latta Panthers (18-9)
Lots of new faces for the Panthers, but Jeremi Correll (6-foot-6, senior) returns and leads the team in scoring.
Hennessey Eagles (21-6)
Sophomore Dane Thrash is on everyone’s watch list. He averaged 15 points per game a year ago and could improve those numbers.
Afton Eagles (22-3)
The tandem of Coy Crane and Shawn Free makes this Afton Eagles team one to watch.
Carnegie Wildcats (14-11)
Team leader Ethan Candyfire (6-foot-4, junior) has the ability to take over any game. Last year he averaged 17 points per game.
Girls
Oktaha Lady Tigers (24-3)
Three returning starters including Britny Pittman (5-foot-10, senior) will be more than enough for this Lady Tigers team make it past the quarterfinals.
Cordell Lady Devils (19-8)
Darcie Dick (5-foot-9, senior) leads the team in every statistical category and is explosive with the ball.
Dale Lady Pirates (20-7)
All five starters are back and for head coach Benny Burnett that could mean consistent play from the Lady Pirates.
Pocola Lady Indians (24-3)
The best center in 2A resides in Pocola. Ashley Hobbs (5-foot-10, senior) is a double-double threat every game.
Pawnee Lady Bears (20-8)
Another team that returns the starting five from last season. Leading the way is 5-foot-10 senior Whitney LeGrand.
Savanna Lady Dawgs (19-8)
Becca Lanham and Shelby Woods is a pair of juniors that you must account for on the court.
Konawa Lady Tigers (17-9)
The Lady Tigers get everyone back this season and leading the way is senior Kelsey Howard.
Hobart Lady Bearcats (17-8)
Senior point guard Brett Bates (5-foot-6) is an excellent shooter with big time play ability.
Stroud Lady Tigers (17-5)
Watch for big plays from senior Delaney Jones and sophomore Megan Jones.
Hulbert Lady Riders (17-8)
Krystal Chance and Larae Arnall need to have big games for the Lady Riders to stay in contention for a title.

A great shooter and a hustler on defense, Clayburn gives opponents fits on both ends of the court.
Dillon Wagnon, Lincoln Christian, (6-foot-1, senior, guard)
That’s right, Lincoln Christian. Wagnon leads the Bulldogs in their first year as an OSSAA school. Look out.

Pure shooter and excellent on the boards, Russ is the team leader in scoring and is considered by many to be an All-State type of player.
