KSHSAA Coaching School

The Kansas State High School Activities Association will hold its 76th annual coaching school August 6-8 at the Topeka Capitol Plaza Hotel. Vype High School Sports Magazine will help sponsor the event. Bruce Brown of Proactive Coaching will open the clinic as keynote speaker. A teacher, coach and administrator for over 35 years in Washington state, Brown works in the field of sportsmanship for the NAIA and has worked for the NFL for eight years evaluating players for the draft. He has authored seven books. Also speaking at the three-day event will be former Texas A&M football coach Dennis Franchione, who came up through the ranks as a high school coach at Mulvane and Peabody. Wichita State basketball coach Gregg Marshall, baseball assistant Brent Kemnitz and volleyball coach Chris Lamb will also speak as clinicians at the conference. Early registration for the coaching school begins from 5-9 p.m. on Tuesday, August 5, in the Maner Conference Center. Regular registration is at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 6. On the night of the first day of the conference, the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association will hold its annual senior all-star game at Lee Arena on the campus of Washburn University.
