Kasey Givens' passion extends beyond rooting for McKinney Boyd teams. The junior cheerleader is also interested in educating her community on the environment and devoting hours to volunteer work. Kasey is president of Boyd's Environment Activist Club (EAC) which brings awareness to environmental issues such as recycling. She recently helped organize a concert and fund-raising event, "Saving for the Future', that promoted and supported the EAC as well as other charities such as Habitat for Humanity. "I've always been interested in community service. I became involved with the EAC because I believe our environment is important and not something that we can ignore." Kasey said. "It's a challenge I plan to pursue into the future." Givens has sponsored an underprivileged child through the World Vision's humanitarian efforts and also devotes hours of her time to community service through Boyd's Green Cord program. "When I saw the needs of these children around the world, I couldn't help but sponsor one," Kasey said. She enjoys seeing the positive effects of her volunteer work and can't imagine giving it up after she graduates from Boyd. "Giving back to my community is really the only thing that matters to me," Kasey said. "I can't imagine not being involved in helping our community."
