The defending 6A State Champion and number one ranked Broken Arrow Lady Tigers have started out strong in their quest for a repeat with an undefeated season . The Lady Tigers last lost came Stillwater on September 19, 2006. Coach Randall King’s team is led by the strong pitching of undefeated junior Chelsea Lyon. Offensively the Lady Tigers get good production from senior Taylor Brown and junior Stephanie Brewer. In the Erie Tournament of Champions in Colorado, Lyon pitched 19 innings of a 20 inning, 2-1 win over Legacy, Colo., with senior Vanessa Guess hitting the game winning RBI. Freshmen Megan Higgins, Brooke Scott, Devyn Frazier and speedy sophomore Candace Monigold have provided a youthful energy to the team along with great offensive production in their first season of varsity play. The Lady Tigers seem to be on their way to a 10th State Championship as they continue to stretch their undefeated streak with what is an experienced team mixed with talented youth.

Shortstop Lisa Ripperger has provided offensive power for the Jenks Lady Trojans as one of only 5 seniors on what is a young team. Jenks had back to back wins over Bishop Kelley and No. 11 ranked Union before losing a double-header to No. 1 Broken Arrow. Briana Burnidge and Shelby Taylor provide offensive firepower with their bats, while Jordan Helms has provided senior leadership whether it is pitching or at the plate hitting. Junior Erin Robertson has contributed by pitching but even more with her bat.

The Owasso Lady Rams continued a six game win streak with run rule victories over East Central and Sand Springs. Senior Morgan Finch helped lead Owasso over Sand Springs, where she transferred from, and going 2-3 with one run. Liz Eisterhold provides an offensive spark and displayed that against East Central. Sophomore Britnee Summers is a headache for opposing batters. Summers struck out 11 batters and pitched a perfect game against East Central. Kendra Olinghouse and Jessica Robison provide senior leadership and are a threat to get on base every time they come to the plate. The 6A No. 3 ranked Lady Rams hit a hot streak with 8 consecutive wins in late August that carried into early September and wouldn’t mind that streaking continuing through the playoffs.

In 5A Softball, the Bixby Spartanettes participated in the Broken Arrow Tournament and came out with wins over 6A 19th ranked Jenks, 3A 13th ranked Sperry, and Oologah. Seniors Kelsey Robertson and Andrea Dalton provided offense for Bixby during the tournament. Freshman Kerri Francis also proved her offensive ability knocking in three runners in one game during the Broken Arrow Tournament. Emily Walters, freshman first basemen, along with senior catcher Philly Irvin have provided some offensive pop for the Spartanettes. Bixby, led by head coach Jerry Pease, is very young with only 4 seniors on the roster but the young talent has made itself known offensively for the 5A 9th ranked Spartanettes.

The 5A 4th ranked Coweta Lady Tigers are winning games due to their success at the plate. Skylar Swanson showed her offensive power at the plate at the Shawnee Tournament. The unselfish offensive play of Holly Caughman has provided the Lady Tigers with multiple RBI. Sarah Raunikar, Morgan Rockwell, and Kylie McKinney have provided some firepower for the Lady Tigers and head coach Ashley Steel. Coweta should make a push come playoff time and represent the east side of the state in 5A.
