It’s never easy being the child or a sibling of a former star. For these young men, this is their time to shine.

For Mike Golic Jr. it has been a rather exciting and eventful time growing up in the Golic house. Mike Sr. was nine-year veteran on the defensive line, playing for the Houston Oilers, Philadelphia Eagles, and the Miami Dolphins. He attended Notre Dame right out of high school and was picked in the 10th round of the NFL draft back in 1985 draft. All this, before Junior was born.

Golic Jr. has recently made his decision about his collegiate future and he isn’t straying far. He has decided to follow his father and is going to play for the Fighting Irish. Junior is a 6-4, 270 pound center and is rated among the Top 10 centers by a number of recruiting services. Little brother Jake is quite the player himself. At 6-5, 212 pounds, the junior tight end has started receiving a lot of attention as well.

From West Hartford, Connecticut across half of the country to Cherry Creek High School in Denver, Colorado is a kid, whose name just rings with glory days of yore: Elway.

Jack Elway has been a leader for the Bruins’ both on the gridiron and on the hardcourt. He has passed for over 1600 yards and 21 touchdowns this season, helping his team to a 8-2 record heading into the playoffs. He also was a major contributor on the basketball team.

Recently, Elway gave his commitment to play in the Pac-10 like his father, although he isn’t following the old man to Stanford. Jack Elway is heading to Arizona State to play for coach Dennis Erickson.

If these young men are half the players that their fathers were, they are going to be special.
