Leave it to Mother Nature to stir up a good, old fashioned debate. The massive amounts of rain heaped on Central Indiana and its surrounding communities last month has prompted the Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) to consider holding sports activities on Sundays. It has been a long-standing rule for the IHSAA to ban any sports activities (games / events) from taking place on Sundays. But Commissioner Blake Ress recently told the Indianapolis Star that play on Sundays could be considered, if circumstances - such as weather - were a determining factor. Case in point: the recent softball state finals, where several days of weather delays forced the two-day event to extend to five days. Holding athletic events on Sundays would be new ground for the IHSAA. Comments? Thoughts? Feedback? Send yours to letters.centralindiana@vype.com
