A graduate of Dollarway, Lee was a member of two of the five state champion football teams. Lee was a member of the 1989 and 1990 teams and was a senior quarterback in the 1991 title game when Dollarway ended a 51-game winning streak and lost to Fordyce, 12-8. The Cardinals also won titles in 1988, 1992 and 1993 and had a string of six consecutive berths in the title game. In the first year coaching at his alma mater, Lee took the Cardinals all the way to the title game where they suffered a 42-18 loss to Shiloh Christian.
