Three teams that surprised this season:
El Reno (Class 5A): The 11th ranked Indians advanced to the state tournament for the fist time in school history and then knocked off No. 4 Lawton Mac twice and advanced to the title game. The team was led by several great players including senior pitcher Katie Raines, junior shortstop Tara Nall and freshman Chelsea Jones.

Westmoore High School (Class 6A): The No. 5 Jaguars finished the season with a 26-5 record and advanced to their first state tournament. Westmoore was led by pitcher Kaci Quintero and junior outfielder Ryan Allen.

Yukon High School (Class 6A): Finished the season ranked No. 9. In the first round of state, the Millers knocked off the No. 1-ranked, defending state champion Broken Arrow before advancing all the way to the semifinals. Yukon was led this year by pitcher Rachel Steverson and catcher Amy Madden.

Three Players to Watch for Next Season:

Katie Lynn, Moore: Lynn will be a senior next season after leading her team to two titles in the past three years. The talented pitcher will be looking to lead her team to another title.

Ashley Brokeshoulder, Shawnee: The junior is one of the top pitchers in the state.

Kacie Quintero, Westmoore: Also, a junior, Quintero had a great season in which she led her team to the 6A championship game.

Best Large School Team in 2007:

Carl Albert: The defending state champs in Class 5A walked through the state championships by scoring 29 runs in four games and winning their second-consecutive title. The Titans were led by an impressive senior class that includes future Oklahoma players Samantha Bachman (pitcher) and shortstop Karolyn Long.

Best Small School Team in 2007:
Sterling: The defending state champs in Class A won its second-consecutive championship behind the pitching of Autumn Trout. In addition to Trout, Casey Fehring, Brook Herzog, Kaycee Davis, Jessica Hale and Jordan Bridges were all key leaders in Sterling's lineup throughout the season and Trout ended with a 28-7 record.

One Story from the 2007 State Tournament You Should Know:

There was literally a 72-hour rain delay in the Class B Championship game as Sentinel was down 7-4 against defending state champ Red Oak heading into the bottom of the seventh inning before the rain came.

When the game resumed three days later, Sentinel rallied and tied the game 7-7 sending it to extra innings. Red Oak ended up winning four innings later.

One Story to Watch for Next Season:

There will be a new high school next year that could have a drastic outcome on the softball world as Southmoore will be opening. There could be several key players who end up moving to the Southmoore district.
