Springdale's Glaser Commits To Missouri

Thursday, June 26, 2008

An unofficial visit to Columbia, Mo., today resulted in Springdale's Ashton Glaser pulling the trigger on a verbal commitment to sign with the Missouri Tigers in February. Glaser, a 6-foot-2, 205-pound quarterback, completed 174 of 298 passes for 2,406 yards and 22 touchdowns while also running for more than 700 yards as a junior last season. "I was here visiting the campus and had no idea I'd be committing," Glaser said via cell phone while still in Missouri. "But I got the whole inside tour of all the athletic and academic facilities yesterday and I woke up this morning with a gut feeling to commit to Missouri and so I did." Glaser said he informed Tigers head coach Gary Pinkel of his decision this morning and also met with Missouri quarterbacks coach and recruiting coordinator David Yost today. "I felt so comfortable here from the first time I met everybody," Glaser said. "The whole staff was so nice and so welcoming that I really felt at home with them. I know they are the kind of people I wanted to spend the next five years of my life with. The fact the Cotton Bowl Champions finished No. 4 in the BCS standings also factored into Glaser's decision to choose Missouri despite interest from Arkansas, Arkansas State, Oklahoma State, Oklahoma and Kansas State. "Hearing the things they say, I really know they are going to win," Galser said. "They were not happy with fourth in the nation and they are fighting harder than they ever have to win a national championship, which I think we'll do in the next few years, if not this year." Glaser said he does not plan to visit any more schools and assured that his recruitment is over with his early pledge to the Tigers. Glaser and his mother, Carin Glaser who visited the Columbia campus as well, return to Springdale today.

Ashton is a great talent and if he can work hard this year and continue to develop his raw skill he will have a great chance to succeed at Missouri. Congratulations Ashton, and good luck this year!
