Fred Gulley III School: Fayetteville Class: Junior Position: Point guard Height: 6-foot-2 Weight: 180 pounds Notable: Gulley averaged 18.5 points and 7 rebounds per game last season and was the Bulldogs' lone selection to the Class 7A All-State team as a sophomore. He has attracted scholarship offers from Arkansas and Missouri, among others, while teams such as Kansas and Kentucky also are showing interest. His sister, LaToya Gulley, plays basketball at Texas A&M. Quotable: "I think he's really worked hard to improve his perimeter game. I think people are going to be surprised because he's always been able to get to the rim very effectively, so people play him by backing off of him, but I think he's going to have a really good year shooting the ball from the time he's put in. The best thing about Fred is he's a complete player. He's not a prima donna where all he does is score because he puts his body into it and takes a charge or pulls down and big rebound in traffic ... He does it all." — Fayetteville coach Barry Gebhart. Aaron Hawley School: Rogers Class: Junior Position: Off guard Height: 6-foot-7 Weight: 190 pounds Notable: Averaged 12.6 points per game and 7 rebounds while shooting 80 percent from the free throw line. Scored a season-high 30 points in 72-57 win against Little Rock Central in state quarterfinals last year. Grew about an inch and a half since last year and is drawing recruiting interest from Tulsa, Mercer, Oral Roberts and Arkansas-Little Rock, among others. Quotable: "With his talent level, he could be the best to ever play at Rogers. He has some deficiencies in his game, though, that remind me of Matt Jones (Arkansas Razorbacks, Jacksonville Jaguars). The main gripe on Matt was lack of intensity. Aaron, like Matt, is naturally athletic. This is not just my evaluation. College coaches have been kind of the same way ... He's just got to keep his intensity at the highest level and he'll be great. I'm hoping as the season progresses that it's something that Aaron irons out in his game. He's just got to play at his potential 100 percent of the time." — Rogers coach Marty Barnes. Cable Hogue School: Fayetteville Class: Junior Position: Forward Height: 6-foot-7 Weight: 210 pounds Notable: Hogue moved to Fayetteville from Rogers this season where he averaged 10 points and 7 rebounds per game before injuring his foot. Had a solid summer on the AAU circuit to draw college interest from schools such as Providence and Arkansas-Little Rock. Quotable: "If he'll play in games like he's practicing, he's going to be a good one for us. Some kids kind of go down a little from practice, some take it up a notch and we're hoping he can take it up a notch. He's a big, strong, physical and athletic kid. He'll give us something inside that we really haven't had in a while and that's a really good post defender who can step outside and defend a little and play a little offense." — Fayetteville coach Barry Gebhart. Ladarius Eckwood School: Springdale Class: Junior Position: Guard Height: 6-foot-2 Weight: 160 pounds Notable: Led the team in scoring with 15.7 points per game a year ago. Eckwood is the great nephew of former Arkansas Razorback and Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Jerry Eckwood. Quotable: "He's been on the football field and he hasn't practiced due to a hip injury, but what I've seen, I'm really excited about him. He's got the ability to score and elevates well on his jump shot. He's very athletic and I think he has the chance to be a college player. There's a lot of time between now and then, but he has a lot of pluses. I just haven't seen him enough. People tell me he's a good player, but I've only seen him in a couple of our individual workouts this summer. Not any team camps, so I haven't seen him in game-like situation, but from what I've seen in his individual moves, he is outstanding." — Springdale coach Bill Taylor. Chase White School: Fort Smith Southside Class: Senior Position: Combo guard Height: 6-foot Weight: 170 pounds Notable: White shot 43 percent from field, 30.2 percent from 3-point line and 74 percent from free throw line. A three-year starter, White scored 180 points and dished out 41 assists last season. He's the son of Southside girls basketball coach Sherry White. Quotable: "He sees the floor really well and doesn't mind sharing the ball. He's a gym rat and he loves the game. He's our team captain. The kids look up to him because he has two years of experience under his belt. He's pretty well-seasoned and played a lot of varsity games for us over the last two years as I had to bring him in as a sophomore and he really stepped up to the challenge. He's a super, great kid and just a real pleasure to coach." — Fort Smith Southside coach Charles Cooper. John Randall Tyson School: Springdale Har-Ber Class: Senior Position: Point guard Height: 6-foot-1 Weight: 165 pounds Notable: Only returning player with any varsity experience after playing in 29 of 30 games for last year's state runner-up squad. Shot 44 percent from the field and 39 percent from 3-point range. He's the son of Tyson Foods Inc. chairman John Tyson. Quotable: "John is a hard worker. He only knows one speed and that's full speed. He's a guy on the defensive end that you would hate to guard you. He's going to be in your face the whole time and just make you go crazy. A game last year I had him on Fayetteville's best shooter and the kid was making some shots. So I called John over and started chewing on him a little and that kid didn't get another 3 off the rest of the game. He's usually matched up with opponent's best guard." — Springdale Har-Ber coach Eric Burnett. Coleson Rakestraw School: Siloam Springs Class: Junior Position: Combo guard Height: 6-foot-2 Weight: 165 pounds Notable: Rakestraw averaged 12 points and 5 rebounds per game last season. He had a 3:1 assist to turnover ratio while also shooting 40 percent from 3-point range, 55 percent from the field and an impressive 94 percent from the free throw line. He's the brother of Arkansas freshman guard Nate Rakestraw. Quotable: "He's a shooter. The best way to describe him is he's a perfectionist. He's that way with his grades, too, and he's that way with his shooting stroke. Man, he puts in a lot of time. I'd say he averages an hour and 15 minutes every day after practice, just on shooting. We have a lot of kids who you would call gym rats because they always stay after, maybe for 45 minutes or so. But he absolutely will not leave before any of those kids leave." — Siloam Springs coach Jason McMahan. Evan Robinson School: Huntsville Class: Senior Position: Center Height: 6-foot-7 Weight: 200 pounds Notable: Scored 15 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in state championship game last season. Averaged 10 points, 8 rebounds and 3 blocked shots per game while "altering a bunch more," according to his coach. Quotable: "He's developed into a good scorer. He was an excellent shot on our state championship team last year. He didn't start for us as a 10th grader, but has continued to get better and played on a state champion AAU team this summer. He's continued to take his game to another level. I really feel like his best basketball is ahead of him." — Huntsville coach Jim Stafford. Evan Albrecht School: Farmington Class: Senior Position: Forward Height: 6-foot-5 Weight: 200 pounds Notable: Averaged 18.6 points, 8.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game as a junior. Was a pitcher/first baseman on the Cardinals' state runner-up baseball team last season. Plans to play baseball in college at either West Point or Air Force. Quotable: "There's nothing in the game that he doesn't do well and he can play any position we want him to play. He's a hard match-up for any player to guard. He takes guards inside and posts them up and takes post players outside and shoots 3-pointers over them. He's the best overall player that I've ever coached." — Farmington coach Beau Thompson. Kevin Morton School: Prairie Grove Class: Senior Position: Guard Height: 5-foot-9 Weight: 165 pounds Notable: Morton moved to Prairie Grove before his junior season after playing at Elkins. Averaged 12.9 points, 2.7 assists and 1.9 steals per game last season, hit 74 three-pointers while shooting 39 percent from beyond the arc. Quotable: "He's built like a little tank. He's built well. He's always one of those kids that will make you look good as a coach. When you draw up something, he's going to make it pay off and make you look good. Last year, wasn't sure what it was going to be like with him coming in, but it was real smooth. I don't think there is anybody more determined than he is. He sets his mind to doing something and he gets it done. He's going to do anything we ask him to do without question. We're thankful to have him, that's for sure." — Prairie Grove coach Steve Edmiston. Clayton Taff School: Berryville Class: Senior Position: Forward Height: 6-foot-4 Weight: 195 pounds Notable: Was the team's second leading scorer while averaging 12.2 points and 4.5 rebounds per game last season. He shot 77 percent from the free throw line and 58 percent from the field. Taff also is a standout distance runner on the Bobcats' track team, finishing fifth in the 800-meters at the state meet last spring. Quotable: "He's very coachable, very fundamental. He makes a concentrated effort to do everything right every time he steps on the court. He's a straight 'A' student and a student of the game as well. He's not flashy, but efficient, so he makes every move count. He's a very good shooter and somebody that doesn't make many mistakes." — Berryville coach Brent Compton. Eddie Frazier School: West Fork Class: Senior Position: Combo post/forward Height: 6-foot-4 Weight: 225 pounds Notable: A two-time all conference performer, Frazier was a starter on last year's team that went 24-7 and went to quarterfinals of state tourney. Also a standout on the Tigers' football team. Quotable: "We get him down low where we can have mismatches, but he's a real mismatch for any defender outside because he can shoot the three pretty good and handle the ball really well for a big guy. He shoots the three good. He probably likes it a little better than I like him shooting it. We expect him to be a senior leader for us because he's been around teams that have won." — West Fork coach David Ferrell. Others to Watch Sean Graham — Fayetteville Jairemy Smith — Farmington Matthew Nagy — Bentonville Frankie Sprick — West Fork Marshall Parker — FS Southside Joel Perry — Springdale Har-Ber Emil Rijcken — Springdale Har-Ber
