2009 ALL-VYPE SOUTHWEST SELECT 50 FOOTBALL TEAM

DALLAS, TX--JANUARY 18, 2010—VYPE.com, the nation’s fastest-growing high school sports media company, announces its 2009 All-VYPE Southwest Football Team.

VYPE editors covering high schools in Arkansas, Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, Oklahoma and Louisiana selected the 50-member team based on performance on the field.

Many of the members of this year’s squad have already pulled triggers on verbal commitments to ink with the nation’s elite college programs when the national signing period begins on Feb. 3.

From Texas, Haltom City defensive lineman Reggie Wilson, North Shore offensive lineman Trey Hopkins and Dallas Skyline receiver Mike Davis are expected to sign with the Longhorns while Missouri City Elkins offensive lineman Jake Matthews (Texas A&M), North Shore receiver DeAndrew White (Alabama) and DeSoto offensive lineman Evan Washington (LSU) are a few of the notables headed elsewhere.

From Oklahoma, Tulsa Central athlete DeMarco Cobbs, who’s widely considered the state’s top college prospect, is headed to BCS runner-up Texas. Several of the others are either underclassmen or seniors who are undecided on their college choices such as Midwest City linebacker Emmanuel Maxwell, who’s been offered a scholarships by Arizona, Colorado State and Tulsa.

From Arkansas, Little Rock Christian tailback Michael Dyer (Auburn), Greenwood receiver Spencer Harris (Illinois) and Little Rock Catholic tight end Garrett Uekman (Arkansas) have all went public with their pledges. Fayetteville quarterback Brandon Allen is only a junior, but has already pledged to Arkansas.

From Louisiana, West Monroe defensive end Jordan Allen, Giesmar Dutchtown defensive back Eric Reid, Isadore Newman athlete Ronnie Vinson, Eunice safety Tharold Simon, St. Augustine defensive back Tyrann Mathieu, Archbishop Shaw offensive lineman Elliott Porter are all committed to LSU. Thibodaux quarterback Trovon Reed, the state’s top college prospect, is pledged to sign with Auburn.
