Regular Season Nov 8, 2009
The Rosemount boys track and field team won its first State championship June 7 by earning the Class AA title at Hamline University's Klas Field. The Irish scored 65 points to top Irondale by five points. Woodbury took third with 42 points, Owatonna was fourth with 35 and Burnsville fifth with 34. An eight-point result in the competition's final event, the 4x400-meter relay, gave Rosemount the final margin they would need to ensure victory over the Knights as the quartet of Austin Eliason, Obai Hussein, Zach Vraa and Jordan Carlson finished the 4x400 in 3 minutes, 19.47 seconds. Hussein also finished up his high school career by taking the State title in the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.62.
