Seven on seven tournaments are where it's at for football these days. The temperature is hot and the play is sizzling. It definitely wets the football appetite for fans across the state as athletes try and qualify for the state tournament in College Station. This weekend Cypress-Creek hosted their tournament and Klein came away victorious over The Woodlands. What was most impressive was the vast number of potential college athletes on the fields at the same time. Let's start at quarterback. The most impressive and effortless passer was Connor Wood of Second Baptist. The junior-to-be will have a mailbox full of offers by Labor Day. Cypress Falls' signal-caller Kolby Gray can wing it with the best of them and is tremendously accurate. Cinco Ranch's Shane Ros is a man. Ros is coming off a knee injury last season but can run an offense with poise and precision. Underclassman Jacoby Walker of Westfield was very impressive as were his talented receiving trio. Klein's Jamie Peebles, who transferred from St. Pius, had impressive day knocking off all comers. Some more notable stars included Westfield's Adam Watson, Barry Ford and Ja-Mes Logan. They were the best trio of wide out in the tournament. Watson squats in holes while Ford and Logan out reach secondarys with tremendous athleticism. Also shinning was Tomball's underclassmen tandem of Jordan Leslie and Matt Marfisi. Leslie at 6-foot-3 and Marfisi at 6-foot-6 gave opponents fits. were Klein's Tyler Boss, who will play receiver and defensive back for the Bearkats this fall. Next weekend is The Woodlands' tournament and lineman challege.
